The words for the American national anthem “Star Spangled Banner” were written by Francis Scott Key but the tune was originally from an ancient Greek drinking song called “Anacrean in Heaven.

The word “girl” appears only once in the Bible.

It is or was illegal to say “Oh Boy” in Jonesboro, Georgia

  1. Dearest Jo-Anne,
The facts about the Star Spangled Banner are not quite accurate.
‘From Drinking Song to American Anthem
Ironically, the melody Key assigned to accompany the lyrics of “The Star-Spangled Banner” was a popular English drinking song called “To Anacreon in Heaven.”

Written around 1775 by John Stafford Smith, the song honored the ancient Greek poet Anacreon, a lover of wine. It was originally performed at a London gentleman’s music club called the Anacreontic Society.’ https://www.history.com/topics/19th-century/the-star-spangled-banner
It is not an ancient Greek drinking song but an English drinking song from 1775, honoring the ancient Greek poet Anacreon, a lover of wine… 😉
Hugs and happy remainder of the week!
