Do on Tuckerbox pt 5

Here we are at another Dog on the Tuckerbox post, this week we will read about the decision to erect the monument.

The popularity of the poem and the publicity it gave Gundagai grew greater year after year. Prior to Gundagai’s centenary celebrations O. A. Collins prevailed upon the organising committee (the hospital board), to adopt his suggestion that the climax of the celebrations be the unveiling of a Pioneers’ Memorial which would be in the form of a dog on a tucker box.

Erected at the Five Mile, the known camping site of early teamsters. The adoption f this suggestion the late Mr Frank Rusconi who constructed the famous Marble Masterpiece, was commissioned to build the monument.

More next week.

Facts……………..

Good morning all, here we are at another Monday, so that means it is facts day.

The first paper was made way back when dinosaurs walked the earth, using dried wood mashed into a pulp. These paper makers were wasps. These insects have always built their nests from home-made paper, which means they were making paper 300 million years before humans.

The longest word in the English language dictionary is “pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis” (I hoe I spelt that right)

Canada is an Indian word meaning “Big Village”

Venetian blinds did not originate in Venice: they were invented in Japan.

The Three-Toed Sloth is the slowest animal in the world, it can take three days to climb a medium sized tree.

Another week in my boring life

Woke at 5am got up went to the toilet then back to bed but found I was awake so after 20mins I got up.

I was getting my breakfast stuff ready when Tasha walked in, this was a surprise as Saturday mornings are her morning off. She had brought down a load of washing. While here she took over and prepared my breaky.

Noticed that Tim had put up the shelves he wanted, they look good.

I got Kathy to put up some picture hooks so I can hand more photos.

Up at 5.20 again, messaged Tasha but for some reason my phone didn’t send the message till 6.09, she came straight down to find me already dressed and starting breakfast.

Tim altered Tasha’s bras last night but she said it is a half-assed job and isn’t happy.

Had Leo, Daemon and Freya come down for breakfast, they spent some time here playing. At one point Daemon wanted a paperclip so he could try and pick the lock on Leo’s door.

A new day, awake and up at 5.50am rang Tasha, now ready for the day.

Leo came down around 9am and when Daemon came down an hour later he found Leo asleep. So he had breakfast while he waited for Leo to wake up.

Kelli arrived around midday to get Daemon.

5-7-21

Up at 5.20am sent text to Tasha she came down straight away.

I had a doctors appointment as did Tasha, I need a referral to see neurologist in Sydney and a couple of scripts.

Tim home for 3hrs as he has a split shift.

6-7-21

Awake and up at 5.30am Tasha came straight down and got me ready for the day.

Been a pretty good day not as cold as I thought it would be.

I checked my recorded shows for something to watch and everything is for Tim. He records stuff but is slow to watch what he has recorded.

7-7-21

Woke at 5.55 the latest I have slept in for ages, well it feels that way.

Tasha had a rant about the mess in the kitchen and on the table I use daily.

It has been a nice day.

8-7-21

Awake at 5.27 straight up dressed and breakfast had I am now ready for the day. It is raining here but of course I will be going no bloody where.

Been raining all day on and off.

Kathy-Lee rang this morning to let me know she will not be here tomorrow as she isn’t well.

Leo wants to learn Russian.

I Love You So Much

Baby, I love you so.
Baby, you are my heart and soul.
I feel I could spread wings and fly
Every time I gaze into your eyes.

Baby, I love you so.
Baby, you are my heart and soul.
I could never ever leave you.
Forever together, our love is true.

Baby, I love you so.
Baby, you are my heart and soul.
Our hearts beat as one
As we gaze in love stronger than the sun.

Baby, I love you so.
Baby, you are my heart and soul.
Our lives have been infinitely entwined.
Our love is truly one of a kind.

Baby, I love you so.
Baby, you are my heart and soul.
Forever together is what we’ll be.
Forever together, Baby, just you and me.

Dog on Tuckerbox

Now is Tuesday and means a bit more about the Dog on the Tuckerbox.

The greatest credit for the circulation of Moses’ poem and its subsequent adoption by Australians generally might be given to a newsagent, the late E O’Sullivan, who was not known as a vocal salesman.

Before motor transport became popular and when the “iron horse” carried practically every person who travelled in this country. He would meet every train that stopped at Gunadagai, he never failed to sell the usual stuff but he also sold postcards with Moses’ poem on one side and a cartoon of the dog on the other. It can be truthfully stated that he while in business he sold thousands off these cards.

It’s Monday so here are some facts

Hello Monday, here are some facts………………

The longest long-distance phone call between two people was over a third of a million Kilometres apart.

This happened in on the 2th July 1969 and took place between President Richard Nixon and Neil Armstrong & Buzz Aldrin, Nixon was in the White House the others on the Moon.

In the 1930’s special blue post boxes in Britain for airmail, they used to be a regular sight but have since disappeared.

A fully grown python can swallow a whole pig

Our eyes are the same size from birth but our nose and ears never stop growing.

My last week

Slept in till 6.40am, managed to get my own breaky but with some difficulty.

At 8.10 I saw a message from Kathy saying she won’t be here till the afternoon.

Tim gave me a number 6 hair cut so it is nice and short again. This was done just before my shower.

26-6-21

Had a decent nights sleep awake at 6am as usual.

Last night I received an invite to Kayla’s 18th and said I will go, it isn’t till the 6th August.

A nice warm day here

Jess has been out all day doing forklift training so she can get her forklift ticket/licence. It is a weekend course.

27-6-21

Awake and up at 5.30am a cold start to the day.

Tim left at 1.30 for work had a sprinkling of rain but that’s all.

Kathy and the girls came over to drop off some marshmallows, while she was here I had a moment of anxiety and she replied that I can do it I just think I can’t and her tone upset me.

28-6-21

Awake and up around 5.30, a coldish start to the day.

Around lunch time Tasha came down with a stand assist frame that is attached to my computer chair. It works well, however, I may need to move the laptop as with the frame I am unable to pull the chair close into the table.

The frame was an unopened gift from a friend of hers. I made a point of telling both Tash & Tim hoe much they cost.

29-6-21

Awake and up at 5.50am washed and dressed for the day. A cold and foggy start to the day.

No rain today and it has warmed up.

I like the stand assist if only I could reach the computer.

Still swapping over photos but have been asked why I am doing it, well everybody has aged so updated photos are needed.

30-6-21

Awake and up early at 5am I had attempted to roll over and leaked a drop of pee, so decided to get up.

Tasha came down straight away and showered me.

Been either bloody cold according to Tasha or cool according to me.

Leo here tonight because it is Thursday.

1-7-21

Another early start up at 5.30 again.

Just after I got up I heard someone in thee kitchen, turned out to be Leo. He had to throw up and as I was in the bathroom he went out the back and threw up out.

Tim taking car into Kloster’s (a large car dealership) so the auto electrician can do whatever they need to do.

Tim is off today, he is at last getting around to putting up the shelve in the lounge-room

By afternoon Leo started to feel better.
