Walking

Good morning everyone, it is now Sunday morning and as I do most morning I went for a walk and when I walk I like to think, I tried walking and listening to music or an audio book. However I prefer to think and ponder stuff as I walk.

This morning I was thinking about walking when I was walking, about how when an overweight person starts walking they have to start slowly, I know when I started to go for a walk again I had to stop a couple of times for a rest now I can do the walk without stopping for a rest. Each few weeks I have increased the distance I have walked today I walked a little further not a lot mind you but a little and I am happy with that.

I know many people say you need to walk up and down hills but I am not at that level yet I could go down a hill but up again would be too hard at the moment, when I walk it is along flat ground but since starting I have doubled the distance I walk. I also feel that when it comes to stairs a good rule is stairs down, lift up, meaning take the stairs when going downstairs and the lift when going upstairs

I also thought about how easy it is to forget at times that you have to walk home again when you go for a walk, it is so easy to get lost in the walk and to walk further then you should because the walk home may end up feeling longer then the walk away from home because you are so tired due to walking so far. I have done this myself at times gone for a walk got lost in thought and ended up walking so far that the walk home took a lot out of me.

Since starting back walking in January I have managed to lose about 4-5 kilos not much I know but it is a start and I am walking 5-6 days a week.

  1. Good for you Jo-anne and 4-5 kilos in two months is great! Often, those who lose weight too quickly, gain it and more back! I’m really proud of you Jo-anne. Even if you lost no weight getting exercise is healthy and good for you!
