Lollies

mint-leaves-ctc

Good morning a coolish day in my opinion although Natasha & Tim think it’s cold.

Do you eat lollies?

Do you have a favourite lolly?

I do both eat them and have a favourite, I like spearmint leaves and fruit sticks. However, the spearmint leaves I like are the ones you always bought years ago, many of the ones you buy now days are not as nice. In fact the only store that sell the ones I like is Woolworths.

musk sticks

Fruit sticks are like musk sticks but are in many different flavours they are hard to find, they are sold at Kmart & Target stores I rarely go to.

fags

As a child I used to like fags and cobbers both of which you don’t see now days.

cobbers

Then and Now

Hello world here I am on a fine but cool Monday weather wise, I was thinking the other day how Tim and I have changed when it comes to the weather.

In our younger days I would feel the cold more then Tim now in our 50’s it is the other way around I am often hot when Tim is complaining how cold it is.

When we first married Tim would usually sit up till between 12-1am and I would be in bed by 9.30pm. Now I am in bed by 7.30pm, Tim tries to stay up later but usually falls asleep in front of the TV. I don’t get that if you are starting to nod off get up and go to bed.

When I was younger I didn’t get people needing to have a nap, now days I have to have a lay down each afternoon because if I don’t I find myself feeling sick and shaking more then normal.

Blogging

How do you blog?

Do you write in the morning, or during the day or maybe you write your post last thing before going to bed.

I try to write my posts in the morning.

Do you write your posts in advance and save them for later use or do you write on the day and post when done?

Or maybe you do a bit of both, which is what I do, generally I write and post on the same day but at times I will write a post and save it for use later on.

Do you post every day or every few days or maybe you only do a weekly post.

On this blog I post less often but on my other blog I post usual Monday to Thursday and of weekend I may read and comment on posts depending on what else I am doing.

Dear Dad

This post was published to joannerambling at 6:58:25 PM 29/03/2014

Good morning all this morning I am doing a reworked post of of a post I did back in 2014 about my dad who sadly passed away in his sleep yesterday.

Dear Dad

Yesterday was the hardest of days for your family dealing with the fact that you had passed away in your sleep after a really bad night Saturday night.

So many tears were shed by so many people as you laid in bed looking like you wee sleeping and so many went to say their goodbyes to you.

18 people in total turned up at the house to see you and mum. Natasha the girl you called “Nicky Nat” is heartbroken and has been nearly inconsolable. Kathy-Lee cried from the moment she heard. Jessica feels horrible inside.

My grandsons Blain & Leo didn’t like seeing their nanna so upset and heartbroken, crying so much.

Tim also is heartbroken you were more like his father than father in-law but he has held it together for me, as he feels he needs to be strong to support me.

Three of Jeannie’s children turned up to say goodbye to you, Sam had her daughter Hayley with her and Hayley wanted to see you and I can tell you dad little Hayley was heartbroken she shed so many tears.

Let’s move onto all the great memories I have of you my dad, one of my earliest memories is of walking around near areopelican with me on your shoulders. I also have a vague memory of the time we got bogged on Blacksmiths beach and yes I do remember it is not a clear memory but I do still remember it.

The time we wallpapered the kitchen is also a good memory and it still makes me laugh when I think about it, I don’t know if you know dad how much it meant to me that I was able to help my dad with things, like wallpapering the kitchen and running power down to the garage when we lived in Flame street and putting up the pool.

I know I am blessed to have you as my dad; you have always been my hero, my idol. When I was around the age of 18 nanna asked me what type of man I would like to marry and all I could think of was a man like my dad, to me you were special the perfect dad, you could do everything and I always knew you would protect me and keep me safe. I know it may sound silly but you are still my hero and my idol and I am still so proud to be your daughter.

I was lucky in that I had you all to myself for 6 years but even when Jeannie & Sue came along and later Sandy & Dave I never felt pushed aside or that you loved me any less I just knew you had enough love to go around.

You loved your daughters and didn’t feel the need to have a son which is why God blessed you with one. David has grown from an annoying little sod into a wonderful man just like his father.

All my life I have wanted to make you proud.

Facts about me

Good morning, how are you? I am fine each Monday for a while I am going to do a did you know post with facts about me, not sure how many weeks these will run for only time will tell.

Let us start with my name as you all know my name is Jo-Anne but why is my name Jo-Anne and who named me. Well my mum kind of liked the name Josephine but not really and her grandmother who she lived with for 10yrs was named Mary Anne but her mum my nan didn’t like the name Mary. So mum decided she would like me to me named Jo-Anne and dad and nanna also liked the name Jo-Anne. Mum also was the one who wanted the name to be hyphenated.

My middle name is Nita, that name came from my mum’s favourite aunt, Aunty Nita was my nan’s sister and because of financial issues my nan needed to work so my mum spent a lot of time with her aunt.

So I am Jo-Anne Nita

Milk

Do you drink milk?

If so what type do you like, cows milk, goats milk or one of the nut type milks, such as almond milk or maybe you like soy milk.

Do you prefer full fat or low fat or maybe you have a liking for skim milk.

This morning on Sunrise there was a segment about milk and now it seems that full fat is ok if you don’t drink much milk. However, if you drink a lot of milk the best is low fat or skim and neither have more sugar than full fat milk.

Also soy milk or nut milks do not have as many nutrients as cows milk and if you don’t have to drink it you really shouldn’t as it isn’t that good for you.

Most of us know that cows milk is best for calcium and it is, it has more calcium then the other types of milk.

I like to drink chocolate milk my favourite is Great Ocean Road milk, my daughters prefer Oak but I find Oak and Big M or Moove brands are too chocolatey for my taste. I originally tired it because it was the cheapest but I like the taste best.

When it comes to white milk I usually buy low fat milk, my daughters prefer full fat milk.

Voting

Do you vote?

I had to vote this morning, here it is compulsory from the age of 18. I take my vote seriously unlike some I know. My daughter and husband say can’t see the point in voting as their vote doesn’t change anything, so why bother.

We vote roughly every three years or so in federal elections and of course we have state elections as well as council elections.

Bored

Do you allow your children to be bored ?

Do you get bored?

Saw on Sunrise this morning a story about how it is good to allow children to feel bored and figure out for themselves how to over come it. Too many children say they are bored and expect mum or dad or nan or pop to fix it, by giving them a phone or tablet to play with or to interact with them instead of finding something to do themselves. Although I personality don’t have a problem with a child using a tablet to entertain themselves or even a Playstation or Xbox as this is the 21st century.

Growing up I don’t remember ever feeling bored, I would be outside playing either with friends or on my own and I loved to read and would spend ages sitting and reading. Even now I don’t get bored, I can always find something to do.

Leo rarely says he is bored and on the odd occasion he does feel bored it doesn’t last long, he manages to find something to do so not to feel bored..

On Sunday when Kathy-Lee & Summer took me over to see my dad Summer was complaining she was bored and wanted to leave. That I got because there wasn’t anything for her to do, although she was playing with her mum’s phone.
